is how much ground we have covered in the last few weeks. Here is the breakdown:

1,073 miles driving with Grandma and Adam from Salt Lake City to Kansas City, MO
1,079 miles driving with Rex and Adam from Kansas City, MO to Alexandria, VA

So now you know why I haven't posted for awhile. Adam and I have been at Grandma's house for a week and we have one more week until we meet up with Rex in Arizona. Are you wondering why we are traveling around the country like homeless gypsies? More details to come soon. I promise.

One More Month

Adam is 11 months old today. Is my baby really going to be one in a month?

10 Months

The flash on my camera is broken, so all of my pictures are now blurry...

Adam loves to "read" his books. Lately he wants ALL of them on the floor. He picks one up, opens it and reads and page or two, and puts it down. He then repeats the same processes with the other books. I LOVE to watch him while he reads. So adorable!

Grandma's House

The original plan was that my mom was going to come visit us over Labor Day weekend. That plan changed as soon as my mom found out that she needed to have her house emptied out and ready for renters! So we decided to drive down to Vegas and help out.

Adam outgrew his infant car seat and now uses the big boy one. I quickly learned that I need to adjust it a bit after Adam fell asleep.

Don't worry, I fixed it after the picture so the rest of his nap was more comfortable.

To be honest the drive down to Vegas started out pretty horrible. We left on Friday around 4pm and it took at least two hours for us to get from Salt Lake to Provo (which should take an hour or less) because of all of the traffic. The worst part was that our air conditioning decided not to work. So we were sitting on I-15 with no cold air for two hours while the hot sun beat down on us. Once we finally got out of Utah Valley the traffic eased up, the sun started setting, and the air conditioning started working. Geesh!

We got there late and went straight to bed. The next few days I spent going through my closet and reading/throwing out old letters that I have kept over the years, deciding what keepsakes I REALLY wanted to keep now that I have to find a place for them, and going through all of my mom's extra stuff that was up for grabs. It was quite the job.

Steve cut his leg somehow and ended up with a pretty bad infection, so he had to take it easy. Adam took advantage of it and had a comfy nap on Papa's lap.

I think Papa enjoyed it too.

Melissa came up from AZ with some friends for the weekend so it was fun to see them. We also got to swim in the pool and have meals with extended family we haven't seen for awhile. It was definitely a good time. The hard part was saying good bye to the house that has been "home" for the last 20 years. Before I left I walked through the house with our video camera and reminisced about all of the good times we had there.

Good ole 1505 Marita Dr.

I had a couple of teary moments with both Melis and my mom. We just reminded ourselves that even though we won't be in the house anymore, we will still have all of the memories that belong in it.

Baby Steps

Adam took his first steps on August 24th and he has been getting better and better everyday since then. Here is a video off him walking on Sunday after church. Isn't that the cutest little tie you ever saw? Thanks for making them for him Mimi! I love them all!

Birthday Girl

True Story: A week before my birthday we were sitting in church and a friend of ours got up to give a talk. It was also his birthday that day, so I thought to myself "that stinks that he has to give a talk in church on his birthday." I quickly learned that I had the wrong attitude about it because the next day Rex and I got asked to speak in church the next Sunday. So I had the opportunity to speak in church on my birthday. It didn't turn out to be so bad :)
After that we came home from church and had a long nap with Adam and then got to work on my birthday dinner.

I really love this food blog called Our Best Bites, so I requested that Rex make the Baked Creamy Chicken Taquito recipe. He used both corn and flour tortillas so we could decide which we liked better. They were both SO delicious. I could eat them everyday I think!

(I know this picture makes it look like I'm pregnant. so just for the record, I'm not)

I also made myself a yummy Chocolate Mousse Crunch Cake that I have been drooling over for awhile now. It took me three tries to get the mousse to turn out right. To be honest it didn't turn out quite as mouthwatering as it looks, but it was still good (and I promise I shared with a bunch of friends).

Despite the great food, the best of my birthday was spending it with my two favorite boys in the whole world! Thanks for everything. I love you!

Nine Months Old!

Here are his stats from his last doctor's appointment at about 8.5 months old:

18.5 inches head circumference (94%)
21lbs 4 oz. (63%)
30 inches long (97%)

Adam is becoming more like a little boy and less like a baby each day. It makes me happy and sad at the same time!

Just look at how big he is now!

I just love to watch him play and listen to the sounds he makes.

We knew he wasn't feeling good when he actually snuggled up and fell asleep on Rex. He has had three ear infections in the last two months.

"Look Mom, no hands!" He can stand up without holding onto anything now.

I often find him in this position while he is playing. It took me awhile to finally get a picture of him doing it without him noticing me and crawling toward the camera.

He also likes to sleep in this position lately.

Eating cereal all by himself.
